About Me
Empowering Kids and Teens Through Therapy

Bright Path Therapy, PC is dedicated to providing mental health therapy for kids and teens, using play therapy, art techniques, and talk therapy. My goal is to guide young individuals through their challenges and help them build resilience and emotional well-being.
Who is Ellen?
I earned my Master’s in Social Work at Western Michigan University with a clinical focus. I have worked as an Infant Mental Health therapist and most recently as a school social worker, working in the most diverse school district in the state of Michigan. I moved back to Omaha last year to be closer to family.
The foundation to my approach with clients is relationship and attachment. All of my work has an underlying focus on building a child and family’s capacity to form a secure attachment. I believe that secure relationship is the key to healing and change and that in order for children to learn how to regulate themselves they need a safe, regulated adult to support them. I work with both child and parents/caregivers to enhance their relationship and build necessary skills to successfully manage big feelings and behaviors. Techniques used with our young kids primarily involve play. As stated by Susan Linn, “Play is the foundation of learning, creativity, self-expression, and constructive problem solving. It’s how children wrestle with life to make it meaningful.”

Teens always have access to fidgets and other tools that allow them to feel more comfortable opening up in therapy as well.

My experience, compassion, and playful approach make me a valuable support for children facing life changes, anxiety, depression, social difficulties, school difficulties, behavioral challenges, and neurodivergence. I take an integrative approach to treatment, utilizing aspects of various relational and trauma informed therapies, behavioral techniques, and cognitive based work.

In addition, I have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes since I was a baby. This experience gives me a deep understanding of the struggles our Type 1 kids have in managing their diabetes, while also navigating childhood and adolescence. If you have a child or teen that is newly diagnosed or has been managing on their own for a long time, reach out!
